Christantus Uche Sparks Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that all but guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the last 16, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were outmatched against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Control Asserted from the Outset

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official dismissed the protests.

The formerArsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
