A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country struggling with persistent crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials stated the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by a trio of assailants, one of whom shot at him before running away.
