Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
