Liverpool's Star Extends Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Reveals Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the team in the wake of the fallout from his public comments.
The Incident
He was omitted from a vital match after making accusations and stating his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has chosen not to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the team's response stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also implied that a player's desire to start is preferable. “I get that there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have been impressive in the period after the initial controversy. Jones believes the outburst were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, playing well and starting to win games.”
