Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the high-speed corner approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
