President Trump Welcomes Relatives of Shot Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Tragic Shooting
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.
White House Call
The president stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump told journalists. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”
Public Reaction
Mourners assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid public safety in Washington DC.
Honoring the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that educators desired. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the media. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”
Service plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Measures and Policy Revisions
Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy caused the government to pause asylum processing and cease providing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on the program that she aimed to visit the family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
