Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his future after a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I feel the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, prove once more the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
