Soccer Expert Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game victorious run was ended by the Black Cats before the global break, however can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus AI, fans and a range of special visitors.
For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
Murs' new record, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Football and Family Life
Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.
"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."
The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.
"I will not push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football team," he added.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
West Ham's sole on the road victory this season came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno was previously that team's manager.
So, what on earth do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their streak under their manager, or the home side responding?
I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the season started, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their past four games.
A family member told me to get Bees forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
Olly's view: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality turns out to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six matches.
They have got lots of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of October.
However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly love to prove me wrong.
Looking at Fulham's home form, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a tough one to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
