The Red Devils Set to Secure German Forward Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific German striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich.
A Marquee Acquisition for the WSL Side
The forward, with half a year left on her contract, is known as a consistent goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing will be seen as a marquee coup for the WSL team.
Departure from Bayern was expected after she was seen holding back emotions while applauding the club's supporters after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top strikers. According to reports, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
Reliable Goal Threat to Boost the Attack
The 28-year-old’s signing should represent a major boost to the team's attacking options. She has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She won the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.
Gathering Steam at Old Trafford
Securing Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when United appear to be gathering momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The new deal for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since arriving in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s new deal, a club official stated: “She has become a vital component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill enables her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
Lundkvist, who has joined from a side from the NWSL, said: “You can feel how much they [United] have progressed in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and now featuring in the top European competition.”
