Triple award winner Nikola Jokic endures a 'devastating' injury to his knee.
Thrice-crowned NBA MVP Jokic sustained a "gut-wrenching" knee injury while the Nuggets fell 147-123 at the Miami Heat.
Jokic sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter during an inadvertent collision with fellow Nugget Jones.
The other player came down on the footwear of the MVP, and he immediately went down to the court grabbing his knee.
The 30-year-old, that leads the NBA this season in boards and assists, posted 21 points and eight assists in the contest prior to suffering the injury.
The player will have an scan on Tuesday to assess the severity of the problem.
"Right away, he knew there was a problem," stated Denver coach David Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Any player who suffers an injury, it's tough to see, especially somebody as talented as Jokic. We will know more on Tuesday."
"We'll move on as a team. Obviously, right now, I am more worried just about him as a person and the disappointment of experiencing an event of that nature."
