Your Perfect Pocket Monster Tales: Z-A Super Form According to the Zodiac Sign
The return of Super Forms in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sparked widespread excitement within the community. Starting with the one-by-one unveiling of newcomers before the game's release, to players developing strong opinions on the full roster of new Megas, there's plenty for fans to look forward to.
With numerous of the Super Forms showcasing unique designs that highlight their traits, one thought came to mind: What's the best way to connect this with astrology? The following is inspired by a blend of intuition, sign stereotypes, and personal experience.
The Ram – Super Camerupt
Honestly, Houndoom was almost chosen for this fire sign, as both are the Mega Pokémon and zodiac symbol that evoke the most fear. However, a Super Houndoom appears as always angry, which doesn't match the Aries vibe, known for being playful, cheerful, and spontaneous. That's why Aries much more similar to Super Camerupt, which solely erupts when angered. Remain on the good side of both and enjoy a powerful partner; if you cross them, prepare to get burned.
The Bull – Super Heracross
Similar to a devoted Taurus, the steadfast Heracross, whether in its regular and Super Form, has aided many players in Legends: Z-A. Though dependable, both the creature and a Taurus are also Fighting types, and – be it their trainer or a strong opinion – will defend their side to the end. What about Mega Heracross that reminds me most of my Taurus friends, however, is its unashamed passion for treats. Several past official descriptions mention their craving for sweet tree sap and how it employs its appendage to hoard it all, which is pure Bull-sign vibe.
The Twins – Super Medicham
Look at this total royalty. It's impossible to tell me this creature is not the life of any gathering, providing an endless stream of gossip to those who wish to hear. Much like an enrapturing, sociable Twins, it's very easy to imagine Mega Medicham mesmerizing an whole open area with their stories. Medicham’s Pokédex entry also states its ability to foresee an enemy’s future actions, which sounds quite like a socially-savvy Gemini.
Cancer – Super Manectric
The Crab is widely regarded as the most sensitive sign of the astrological wheel, a passionate sign known for frequently getting wrapped up in their feelings. Per the official info, Mega Evolution fills the creature with a “huge amount of energy, but it's too much for Manectric to fully manage,” which seems a lot like a classic Cancer emotional outburst. It is also known for its ability to create a thundercloud over its own self – and if there’s one thing a Crab is likely to do, it’s spoil their own parade.
Leo – Mega Starmie
Oh, did you assume I was going to pick the lion Pokémon for the king of the stars? Besides the reality that it would be far too on the nose, Leo is obviously Mega Starmie, the star whose legs just became an internet sensation for being too fabulous (or horrifying, based on your taste). Players couldn’t look away from the violet starfish, and that’s precisely the identical vibe a Leo offers to the table. Starmie is also said to be transmitting radio waves from its red core out into the cosmos, and it’s typical of a Leo to be staging a show, albeit for extraterrestrials.
Virgo – Super Victreebel
The always-ready and perpetually-anxious Maiden is ideally encapsulated in Super Victreebel, the Mega with constant digestive issues. The sign known for being endearingly judgmental is strongly mirrored throughout this Pokémon’s entire evolutionary chain, from a perpetually surprised face like a Maiden when you inform them you don’t have a retirement plan, to its upside-down visage that’s just like the symbol a Virgo sends to the group chat when everyone says they want to “go with the flow” rather than creating a plan.
Libra – Mega Audino
Observe this sweet, empathetic creature, who uses the sensors on its auditory organs to tell how others are feeling by their heartbeat. Always compassionate – occasionally to a detriment – and trying to keep the peace, there are numerous Scales who would likely benefit from Super Audino's skills. Though, let’s be honest, it would likely just cause them to worry more about everyone else.
The Scorpion – Super Banette
This Ghost-type is a creature with a surprisingly sad origin: Discarded as a toy, it gained consciousness through sheer resentment and swore retribution on its former owner. Per the Pokédex, Mega Evolution, “enhances its spitefulness.” That sounds exactly like several discussions I’ve had with my scary Scorpion friends. A Scorpio adores karma and comeuppance, making them the ideal match with Super Banette.
The Archer – Mega Hawlucha
Each Mega Hawlucha and Archers are constantly staging a show. Being a Sagittarius personally, the amount of times I’ve called myself some version of a “playful little entertainer” is innumerable. The most flamboyant and most obnoxious Mega Evolution, its description even mentions how it “flexes to display its strength.” I would do the very same thing if I had a Super Form, making Mega Hawlucha the most fitting Sagittarius counterpart I can imagine.
The Goat – Mega Absol
Were you aware that a Mega Absol has the power to foresee calamities ahead of time? That gives the exact same vibe as a Capricorn, who tends to consistently think they’re right. Interestingly, much like a visionary Super Absol, they frequently are. It’s also the very first Super Form that players meet in Legends: Z-A – typical of a Capricorn to get in on the beginning of the Super Form craze.
Aquarius – Super Chandelure
Detached element Water Bearer is arguably the non-fire placement that is closest to a fire sign – its counterpart is the Lion, and there are countless jokes about Sagittarius and Water Bearer being chaotic partners in crime. Super Chandelure's double Spirit/Flame category matches seamlessly with this, and the Mega’s general intimidating aura is also extremely Aquarius. If you hadn't yet persuaded, the Mega’s Pokédex entry says it “draws in hatred and converts it into power.” If that doesn’t perfectly {encaps
